Very rare private press tormented Xian loner folk LP with a serious acid damaged downer vibe. Released sometime between 1969 and 1972 ODE is one of the best of the genre.
"The opening "Drug Song" sets the tone perfectly as a supremely world-weary, echo-laden guy laments on how he screwed himself up with dope; "I'm no longer a person, I can't even feel". The resolution is (of course) Christ, who is serenaded in the following tracks, although the despairing, suicidal mood is strangely unchanged. Salvation or none, it seems most things are still a mess for Bixby. Numbers such as "Mother" and the Grudzien-level "666" confirm such suspicions." This review is excerpted from Acid Archives <p>

Thanks, I've been wanting to hear this for a while now. Fairly hard to find though, so thanks!
I was wondering how well Jandek would fit this blog? :)

Hey, you have some nice stuff here. Thanks a lot. You may find some things that you like over at *my* blog witchseason.blogspot.com.
May I make a plea for you to re-upload 'A True Hearted Girl'? It's not available anywhere...
Many thanks
Thanks a lot for this album! The more I listen to it the more I like it! Excellent record!
I knew Dave Bixby very well, and can tell anyone who's interested, the truly bizarre story behind "Ode To Quetzalcoatl," including the origin of the title.
This is a religious cult album put together by a highly secretive, and destructive religious cult called "The Movement." Both Dave, and I were members of this organization for many years, and I personally sold combs out in parking lots all over the Midwest to pay for this album's production.
I would be very happy to talk to any, and all former disciples of "Sir," who should happen to find this site. This album is selling at $1,000 apiece on e-bay nowadays.
